Paul talked about how to live a godly life, about how people should control themselves, and about the time when God will judge everyone. This made Felix afraid. He said, “That’s enough for now! You may go, but when I find the time, I’ll send for you again.”

When he comes, he will show the people of this world that they’re guilty of sin, that they can be made right with God, and that if they aren’t, they’ll face judgment.

But make sure that you honor Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this gently and with respect.

To knowledge, add self-control. To self-control, add endurance. To endurance, add godliness.

gentleness, and self-control. There’s no law against things like that.

He commanded us to preach to the people and tell them that he is the one God appointed to judge the living and the dead.

Dear children, don’t let anyone lead you astray. The person who does what is right is holy, just as Christ is holy.

Do you have faith that there’s one God? Good for you! Even the demons believe that, and they tremble!

People have to die once, and after that they face judgment.

But the promise of entering God’s rest is still open. So I want you all to be careful not to miss it.

Instead, encourage one another every day, while it’s still called “Today,” so that sin doesn’t deceive any of you and harden you.

But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised could be given through faith in Jesus Christ to those who believe.

We must all stand before Christ to be judged, and then each of us will receive what we deserve for the things we did while we were in our bodies, whether they were good or bad.

Here’s how you can tell the difference between God’s children and the devil’s children. Anyone who doesn’t do what is right isn’t God’s child, and anyone who doesn’t love their brother or sister isn’t God’s child either.

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and because he and his kingdom are coming, I’m giving you these instructions:

He says, “When I had mercy on you, I heard you. On the day I saved you, I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time when God is having mercy. Now is the day when he wants to save us.

So don’t judge anything before the appointed time. Wait until the Lord returns, and he will bring what’s now hidden in the dark out into the light. He’ll show the real reasons why people do what they do. At that time God will give each person the praise they deserve.

I have the same hope in God that these men have themselves. I believe that both good and bad people will rise from the dead.

When they heard Paul talk about the dead being raised, some of them laughed at that idea. But others said, “We want to hear you speak about this again.”

Paul went there as usual, and for three Sabbath days in a row he talked with the Jews about the Scriptures.

When the people heard this, it struck them deeply in their hearts. They said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”

We’ve learned about different ways of becoming clean and about placing hands on people to bless them. We know that people will rise from the dead and that God will judge everyone for eternity.

The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I’m shaking with fear.”

So we will all have to answer to God for the things we’ve done.

Because God has shown you such mercy, brothers and sisters, I ask you to offer up your bodies to God while you are still alive. That will be a sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to God. It’s the right kind of worship to offer God.

The good news says that this will happen on the day when God judges people’s secret thoughts through Jesus Christ.

Agrippa answered Paul, “Do you think you can convince me to become a Christian in such a short time?”

But the Jews in Thessalonica found out that Paul was preaching God’s word in Berea. Some of them went and stirred up the crowds there as well.

Now get up and go into the city. You’ll be told there what you must do.”

“But the people paid no attention. One went off to his field and another went to his business.

He did send for Paul again many times to talk with him, but he was also hoping that Paul would offer him some money to let him go.

Instead, a church leader must welcome people into his home. He must love what is good and be self-controlled, decent, holy, and disciplined.
