Paul knew that some of them were Sadducees and others were Pharisees. So he called out to the members of the Sanhedrin, “My brothers, I’m a Pharisee. I come from a family of Pharisees. I’m on trial because I believe that people will rise from the dead.”

So I’ve asked to see you and talk with you. I am bound with this chain because I share Israel’s hope.”

The Sadducees were a group that didn’t believe people could be raised from the dead, so they were very upset that the apostles were teaching that Jesus had risen from the dead.

I have the same hope in God that these men have themselves. I believe that both good and bad people will rise from the dead.
