Then I was told that they’d made a plan to kill him. So I sent him to you at once. I also ordered those who were accusing him to present their case to you.

“I told them that’s not the way Romans do things. We don’t judge anyone before they’ve had the chance to face the people bringing charges against them and answer for themselves.

The governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the palace, which was called the Praetorium, and there they gathered all the other soldiers around him.

Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning. The Jewish leaders didn’t enter the palace, because they didn’t want to be made unclean. They wanted to be able to eat the Passover meal. So

When Herod realized that the wise men had tricked him, he became very angry. He gave orders to kill all the boys two years old and younger who were living in Bethlehem and the area around it. This was because the wise men had first seen the star two years earlier.

When King Herod heard about this, he became very concerned, as did everyone else in Jerusalem.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea while Herod was king. Wise men then came from the east to Jerusalem

He ordered the officer to keep Paul under guard but to give him some freedom and let his friends to take care of his needs.
