The next night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Don’t be afraid! You’ve told people about me in Jerusalem, and you must do the same in Rome.”

After all this had happened, Paul decided to go over to Macedonia and Achaia and then on to Jerusalem. “And after I’ve been there,” he said, “I must also visit Rome.”

One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Keep on speaking and don’t be silent,

But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so I was able to preach the message completely, and all the Gentiles heard it. I was saved from the lion’s mouth.

“Now the Holy Spirit is compelling me to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what will happen to me there.

David spoke about him when he said, “ ‘I know that the Lord is always with me. Because he is at my right hand, I will always be secure.

“I’ve told you these things so that you can have peace because of me. In this world you’re going to have trouble. But be encouraged! I’ve already defeated the world.”

I will not leave you like children who don’t have any parents. I will come to you.

Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I will always be with you, to the very end of the age.”

I have five brothers. Let Lazarus warn them so that they won’t come to this place of terrible suffering.’
