As for being strict about the law, I’m a Pharisee. As for zeal, I opposed and attacked the church. As far as keeping the law is concerned, I kept it perfectly.
It is true that I worship the God of our people as a follower of the Way of Jesus. They call it a cult, but everything I believe agrees with the Law and the Prophets.
But some there wouldn’t listen, and they refused to believe. They said insulting things in public about the Way of Jesus. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and talked with people each day in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
When Priscilla and Aquila heard him speaking boldly in the synagogue, they invited him to their home. There they gave him a fuller understanding of the way of God.
Everyone who heard him was amazed. They asked, “Isn’t this the man who caused so much trouble in Jerusalem for those who worship Jesus? Didn’t he come here to take them as prisoners back to the chief priests?”
dragged him out of the city, and threw stones at him to kill him. The people who’d brought false charges against Stephen took off their coats and placed them at the feet of a young man named Saul.
