But when they opposed Paul and treated him badly, he shook out his clothes in protest. He told them, “God’s judgment against you will be your own fault! Don’t blame me for it! From now on, I will go to the Gentiles.”
The crowd that had been with Jesus when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to tell everyone about what had happened.
But, as you know, I didn’t come to Corinth on my way to Macedonia. I stayed away because I wanted to spare you. (God is my witness that this was the reason—may he take my life if I’m lying!)
The man who saw this has now given his testimony about it, and what he has to say is true. He knows that he’s telling the truth, and he’s giving his testimony so that you too may believe.
Don’t be too quick to place your hands on others to set them apart to serve God. If it turns out that they’re involved in sin, it will look as if you approve. Keep yourself pure.
