You don’t even know what’s going to happen tomorrow. What is your life? You’re a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears.

Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus because didn’t want to spend too much time in the province of Asia. He was in a hurry to get to Jerusalem because he wanted to be there if possible by the day of Pentecost.

After all this had happened, Paul decided to go over to Macedonia and Achaia and then on to Jerusalem. “And after I’ve been there,” he said, “I must also visit Rome.”

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he became upset when he saw how full the city was of statues of gods.

Jesus knew everything that was going to happen to him. So he went out and asked them, “Who are you looking for?”

It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Jesus had always loved his disciples who were in the world, and he now loved them to the very end.

But I have a baptism of suffering to go through, and I must go through it.

When the time grew near for Jesus to be taken up to heaven, he resolved to go to Jerusalem.
