The believers listened carefully to the apostles’ teaching. They shared their lives with one another, and they ate and prayed together.

Let’s not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing. Instead, let’s encourage one another. And let’s meet and encourage one another even more as we see the day of Christ’s return approaching.

They all came together regularly to pray. The women who’d come with them from Galilee joined them, and so did Jesus’ mother Mary and his brothers.

We’re announcing to you what we’ve seen and heard so that you can share life together with us, with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

But if we walk in the light, just as he is in the light, then we share life with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son makes us pure from all sin.

Every day they met together in the temple courtyard. They ate meals together in their homes with glad and sincere hearts,

On the first day of the week we met with the believers to share a meal. Paul spoke to the people, and because he was planning to leave the next day, he kept on talking until midnight.

Pray in the Spirit at all times, making all kinds of prayers and requests. Stay alert and always keep praying for all the Lord’s people.

But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith. Let the Holy Spirit guide you when you pray.

Spend a lot of time and effort in prayer. Always be alert to what you should be praying for, and always give thanks for answered prayer.

But you must keep your faith steady and firm and not move away from the hope that the good news is offering you. This is the good news that you heard. It has been preached to every creature under heaven and I, Paul, am its servant.

But I want you to continue to follow what you’ve learned and have become convinced of, because you know the people you learned it from.

You’re a building that’s being built on the apostles and prophets as its foundation. Christ Jesus himself is the cornerstone that has been laid down first

There they strengthened the disciples, encouraging them to remain faithful to what they’d been taught. “We have to go through many hard times to enter the kingdom of God,” they explained.

Then we can devote our efforts to prayer and to teaching God’s word.”

After they had prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke God’s word without any fear.

You can’t drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too. You can’t have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.

We’re not among the people who pull back and are destroyed. We’re among the people who have faith and are saved.

Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith. When he arrived and saw what God’s grace had done, he was very happy. He told them all to remain true to the Lord with their whole hearts. Even more people came to know the Lord.

I commend you for remembering what I taught you and for staying true to exactly what I passed on to you.

Then Paul went upstairs again and broke bread and ate with the people. He kept on talking until it was daylight, and then he left.

These enemies left our community of believers, but they didn’t really belong to us. If they had belonged to us, they would have stayed with us. By leaving, they showed that none of them really belonged to us.

I’m amazed that after such a short time, you’re abandoning the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ. You’re turning to a different “good news”—

After Peter and John were released, they went back to their own people and told them everything the chief priests and the elders had said to them.

Then the two of them told what had happened to them on the road and how they had recognized Jesus when he broke the bread.

When they were together at the table, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and began to give it to them.

Brothers and sisters, if I came to you and spoke in an unknown language, what good would that do? If I really wanted to help you, I’d come with a revelation or insight or prophecy or teaching.

because you’ve joined me in spreading the good news. You’ve done so from the time you first believed until now.
