Jesus has been given a place of honor at the right hand of God, and he has received the promised Holy Spirit from the Father. It is Jesus who has poured out what you now see and hear.
One day when Jesus was eating with his apostles, he told them, “Don’t leave Jerusalem, but wait for what my Father promised, what you’ve heard me talk about.
God has lifted Jesus up and given him a place of honor at his right hand, making him Prince and Savior so he can turn Israel away from their sins and forgive them.
He said: “ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Holy Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will have dreams.
But the Father will send the Helper or Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, in my name to help you. The Spirit will teach you all things and remind you of everything I’ve said to you.
He set us free so that the blessing that was given to Abraham would come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus. That way by faith we would receive the promised Holy Spirit.
They began to praise God by speaking in unknown languages. When the Jewish believers who’d come with Peter heard this, they were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit was being poured out even on Gentiles. Peter said,
“From the Father, I’m going to send you the Helper, the Spirit of truth, who comes out from the Father. When the Helper arrives, he’ll be a witness about me.
You also came to belong to Christ when you heard the message of truth, the good news about how you could be saved. When you believed, God stamped you with an official mark, the Holy Spirit that he promised.
But we can see that Jesus has already been crowned with glory and honor because he suffered and died. He was made lower than the angels for a little while so that by the grace of God he could taste death for everyone.
