He appeared to them over a period of 40 days after his suffering and death, and he proved in many ways that he was alive. During that time, he spoke about the kingdom of God.
They arranged to meet with Paul on a certain day. When it came, even more of the Jewish leaders went to the place where he was staying. From morning until evening, he told them about the kingdom of God. He used the Law of Moses and the Prophets to try to convince them about Jesus.
Dear friends, I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share. But I felt that I had to write and urge you to stand up for the faith that God’s holy people have been trusted with once and for all time.
But some there wouldn’t listen, and they refused to believe. They said insulting things in public about the Way of Jesus. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and talked with people each day in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
So he went to the synagogue and talked both with Jews and with Greeks who worshiped God. Each day he also spoke with anyone who happened to be in the marketplace.
At Iconium, Paul and Barnabas went into the Jewish synagogue, as they usually did. They spoke there with great power, and large numbers of Jews and Greeks became believers.
Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly. “We had to speak God’s word to you first,” they said. “But you haven’t accepted it, as if you think you don’t deserve eternal life. So we’re going to talk to the Gentiles from now on.
From Perga they went on to another city named Antioch, the one in the region of Pisidia. On the Sabbath day they entered the synagogue there and sat down.
When Priscilla and Aquila heard him speaking boldly in the synagogue, they invited him to their home. There they gave him a fuller understanding of the way of God.
