Elijah was a human being just as we are. He prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t rain on the land for three and a half years.

So then, here’s what I say about eating food sacrificed to idols. We know that “an idol really is nothing at all in the world.” We know that “there is only one God.”

But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I’m only human, like you.”

When the believers heard about it all, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Lord and King,” they said, “you made the heavens, the earth, and the sea and everything in them.

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Brothers and sisters, make sure that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

so that if I have to put off my visit, you’ll know how people should act in God’s family, the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Paul and Barnabas preached the good news in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch.

Whoever speaks on their own does it to get personal glory, but anyone who works for the glory of the one who sent him can be trusted. There’s nothing dishonest about him.

But he told me, “Stop! I’m a servant of God, just like you and the other prophets and everyone who obeys the words of this book. Worship God!”

So men, be strong. I have faith in God that everything will happen just as he told me.

By then the men hadn’t eaten for a long time. Paul stood up in front of them and said, “Men, you should have taken my advice and not sailed from Crete. Then you would have avoided this harm and loss.

“Men,” he said, “I can see that our trip is going to end in disaster. The ship and everything it’s carrying will be lost. Our own lives will be in danger too.”

He brought them out and asked, “My lords, what must I do to be saved?”

“We’re telling you the good news: God made promises to our people long ago,

The next day Moses saw two Israelites fighting, and he tried to make peace between them. ‘Men, you are both Israelites,’ he said. ‘Why do you want to hurt each other?’

The Father has life in himself, and he has given the Son life in his own self as well.

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because you created all things, and by your will they were created and came into existence.”
