When the Jews saw the crowds, they became very jealous. They began to argue with what Paul was saying and insult him.

But these people say insulting things about whatever they don’t understand. And the only things they do understand will destroy them. They’re like wild animals who can’t think for themselves and live only by instinct.

But when they opposed Paul and treated him badly, he shook out his clothes in protest. He told them, “God’s judgment against you will be your own fault! Don’t blame me for it! From now on, I will go to the Gentiles.”

by trying to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles in order that they can be saved. By doing that, they’re continually increasing their sins to the maximum. But God’s anger has come on them at last.

But some there wouldn’t listen, and they refused to believe. They said insulting things in public about the Way of Jesus. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and talked with people each day in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

The high priest and his friends, who were all Sadducees, were jealous of the apostles.

Ungodly people are surprised that you don’t join them anymore in their wild and wasteful living, and they insult you because you don’t.

You’re still following your own wrong desires. If you’re jealous and you’re arguing, aren’t those desires in charge? Aren’t you acting like ordinary human beings?

But other Jews were jealous. They rounded up some troublemakers from the marketplace, formed a mob, and started a riot in the city. The Jews rushed to Jason’s house to look for Paul and Silas because they wanted to bring them out to the crowd.

Pilate knew that the leaders had handed Jesus over because they were jealous.

Scripture says with good reason that God wants the spirit he put in us to belong only to him.

and envy; drunkenness, wild parties, and many other things like that. I warn you now, as I did before, that people who live like this won’t inherit God’s kingdom.

They did things that shouldn’t be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, fighting, deception, and bad motives.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You don’t enter yourselves, but you won’t let in other people who are trying to enter.

But the Jewish leaders stirred up some important Gentile women who attended the synagogue. They also stirred up some men who were leaders in the city. They got all these people to oppose and attack Paul and Barnabas, and they threw the two men out of that area. But

But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up some of the other Gentiles and turned them against the believers.

The people of the city were divided. Some took the side of the Jews, while others took the side of the apostles.

Some Jews and Gentiles, with their leaders, made a plot to attack Paul and Barnabas and kill them by stoning them.

Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over to their side. They threw stones at Paul and then dragged him out of the city, thinking he was dead.

I’ve had to keep on the move constantly. I’ve been in danger from rivers, in danger from robbers, in danger from my fellow Jews, and in danger from Gentiles. I’ve been in danger in the city, in the country, and at sea. I’ve been in danger from people who pretended they were believers.

You know that I’ve been treated badly and suffered greatly. You know what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—how badly I was treated there. But the Lord saved me from all my troubles.
