Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin. Moses’ law cannot make you right in God’s eyes.

But even though we’re used to following the law, we still know that no one can be made right with God that way. Instead, a person needs to believe in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus to be made right with God. We’re not trying to do that by obeying the law, because no one can be made right with God by obeying the law.

Christ has fulfilled everything the law was meant to do, so now there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

God did what the written law was not able to do, since it was weakened by our sinful desires. God sent his Son to be an offering for sin. He sent him in human form like those who are susceptible to sin. When God did this, he passed judgment against sin so that it could no longer control people through their wrong desires.

The law didn’t make anything perfect, but a better hope has now been given to us, and it brings us near to God.

With your heart you believe and are made right with God, and with your mouth you say what you believe. And so you are saved.

Therefore, those who belong to Christ Jesus are no longer under God’s judgment.

because the law brings God’s anger. But where there is no law, the law can’t be broken.

We know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are governed by the law. Its purpose is to silence every excuse and hold the whole world accountable to God.

When the law was introduced, sin got worse, because now people were doing things that they knew were wrong. But when sin got worse, God poured out an even greater abundance of grace.

All the more so, having already been shown by his blood to be in the right, we will be saved from wrath through him.

The law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Day after day every priest stands and performs his special duties. He offers the same sacrifices again and again, even though they can’t ever take away sins.

because it’s impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

So, because we’ve been made right with God through faith, we now have peace with him through our Lord Jesus Christ.

they were also written for us. We believe in the God who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, and God will consider that this makes us right with himself.

All the prophets speak about him and say that everyone who believes in him has their sins forgiven through his name.”

I’ll say it again: Every man who lets himself be circumcised must obey the entire law.

Scripture saw long ago that God would make the Gentiles right with himself by faith. It announced the good news ahead of time to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”

“Through my experience with the law, I died to the law so that I might live for God.

Some of you used to do things like that. But you were washed and made holy and right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

The people of Israel tried to become right with God by obeying the law, but that didn’t work.

“Truly I tell you, whoever who hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life. They will not be judged, because they have crossed over from death into life.

“I tell you, the tax collector went home accepted by God, but the Pharisee didn’t. All those who lift themselves up will be humbled, but those who humble themselves will be lifted up.”

“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do that, and you will live.”

One day an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to have eternal life?”

So no one can obey the law well enough to be considered right with God. Instead, the law makes us more aware of our sin.
