and his followers will preach in his name. They will tell others to turn away from their sins and be forgiven. People from every nation will hear about this, beginning in Jerusalem.
God has lifted Jesus up and given him a place of honor at his right hand, making him Prince and Savior so he can turn Israel away from their sins and forgive them.
Peter replied, “Turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Then listen, you and all the people of Israel! It is through the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that this man stands healed in front of you. You nailed Jesus to the cross, but God raised him from the dead.
Then Peter stood up with the 11 apostles and spoke to the crowd in a loud voice. “My fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem,” he said, “let me explain what’s happening. Listen carefully to what I say.
But Jesus has been given a greater work to do for God. He’s the mediator of a new covenant. It’s better than the old one, because it’s based on better promises. Jesus’ work is greater than the work of the earthly priests, just as much as the new covenant is better than the old one.
