When he found him, he brought him back with him to Antioch. For a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught large numbers of people. It was there at Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.

But if you suffer because you’re a Christian, then don’t be ashamed. Instead, praise God that you’re known by the name of Christ.

Agrippa answered Paul, “Do you think you can convince me to become a Christian in such a short time?”

But you have the Holy Spirit flowing over you, and the Spirit continues to live in you. So you don’t need anyone to teach you. The Spirit teaches you about everything, and his presence in you is real, not fake. So remain in Christ, just as you’ve been taught.

If people insult you because of the name of Christ, then you’re blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name.

Suppose the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in unknown languages. If visitors or unbelievers come in, won’t they say that you’re out of your minds?

The body has many parts, but all of its many parts make up that one body. It’s the same with Christ.

First, here’s what people are telling me. When you get together as a church, you split up into opposing groups. And in some ways, I believe that,

That’s the reason why I’ve sent Timothy to you. He’s like a son to me, and I love him. He’s faithful in serving the Lord. He’ll remind you of the way I live as a servant of Christ Jesus. I myself follow what I teach everywhere in all the churches.

When they arrived in Antioch, they gathered the church together and told everything that God had done through them. They shared how he had opened a way for the Gentiles to believe.

So go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

So here’s my advice. Buy gold from me that has been purified by fire. Then you’ll become rich. Buy white clothes from me that you can wear to cover the shame of your naked bodies. And buy healing lotion from me to put on your eyes so that you’ll be able to see.

Paul and Barnabas appointed people who’d trusted in the Lord to be elders in each church. They prayed and fasted and committed the elders to the Lord’s care.

In those days some prophets came down to Antioch from Jerusalem.

When the church in Jerusalem heard about this, they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

But other believers from Cyprus and Cyrene went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also. They told them the good news about the Lord Jesus.

This plan pleased everyone. They chose Stephen, a man who was full of faith and of the Holy Spirit. They also chose Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, who was a convert to the Jewish faith.

and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.

In those days there were about 120 believers. Peter stood up among them to speak.

In those days when the number of disciples was growing, the Greek-speaking Jews complained about the Jews who were native to Judea. They said that their own widows weren’t getting their fair share of the food that was given out each day to those in need.

and after eating some food he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.

The disciples heard that Peter was nearby in Lydda. So they sent two men to beg him, “Please come at once!”

The disciples decided to send help to the brothers and sisters living in Judea. All of them gave as much as they could,

But when the disciples gathered around Paul, he got up and went back into the city! The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.

There they strengthened the disciples, encouraging them to remain faithful to what they’d been taught. “We have to go through many hard times to enter the kingdom of God,” they explained.

And they stayed there a long time with the disciples.

Apollos then wanted to go to Achaia, and the brothers and sisters encouraged him to do that. They wrote to the disciples there and asked them to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by God’s grace had become believers.

But some there wouldn’t listen, and they refused to believe. They said insulting things in public about the Way of Jesus. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and talked with people each day in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

After the riot was over, Paul sent for the disciples. He encouraged them and said goodbye, and then he left for Macedonia.

Even some of your own people will rise up and twist the truth to get disciples to follow them.

We found some disciples there and stayed with them for seven days. Led by the Holy Spirit, they tried to keep Paul from going on to Jerusalem.

Aren’t they the ones who say insulting things about the worthy name of Jesus? Remember, you belong to him.
