Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith. When he arrived and saw what God’s grace had done, he was very happy. He told them all to remain true to the Lord with their whole hearts. Even more people came to know the Lord.

My dear brothers and sisters, remain strong in the faith. Don’t let anything move you. Always give yourselves completely to the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord, your work isn’t for nothing.

But Paul chose to travel with Silas. The believers in Antioch prayed that God’s grace would go with them.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

One person who did this was Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus. The apostles called him Barnabas, which means Son of Encouragement.

If it’s encouraging others, then encourage them. If it’s giving, then give generously. If it’s being a leader, then do it diligently. If it’s showing mercy, then do it cheerfully.

As people who work together with God, we ask you not to receive God’s grace and then do nothing with it.

With the help of Silas, who I consider to be a faithful brother, I’ve written you this short letter to encourage you and to confirm that this is the true grace of God. Remain strong in it.

Certain people have secretly slipped in among you. Long ago it was written that they would be found guilty. They’re ungodly people who misuse the grace of our God as an excuse for sexual sins. They deny Jesus Christ, our only Lord and King.
