Then the two witnesses heard a loud voice from heaven that told them, “Come up here.” Then they were taken up to heaven in a cloud while their enemies looked on.
They hadn’t committed sexual sins; they’d kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among human beings as a first offering to God and the Lamb.
“Look! He’s coming with the clouds!” “Every eye will see him, even those who pierced him.” All the nations of the earth “will mourn because of him.” This will happen! Amen.
“Men of Galilee,” they asked, “why are you standing here looking at the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come back just as you saw him go.”
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to welcome the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
Without question, true godliness comes from this great mystery: Jesus came as a human being, and he was declared right with God by the Holy Spirit. He was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.
