You’ve known the Holy Scriptures ever since you were a little child. They’re able to teach you how to be saved through faith in Christ Jesus.

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

Jesus explained to them what was said about himself in all the Scriptures, beginning with Moses and all the Prophets.

Jesus replied, “You’re going wrong here because you don’t know the Scriptures and you don’t know the power of God.

I’m reminded of your sincere faith, which was alive first in your grandmother Lois and then in your mother Eunice. I’m certain that it’s also in you now.

There the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom and blessed by God’s grace.

But now it has been made known to all the Gentiles through the writings of the prophets, as the eternal God has commanded. Through the revelation of this mystery, the Gentiles are starting to obey God by trusting in him.

Long ago God announced the good news about his Son through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures.

All the prophets speak about him and say that everyone who believes in him has their sins forgiven through his name.”

They said to each other, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us as he explained to us what the Scriptures meant as he talked with us on the road?”

Paul went there as usual, and for three Sabbath days in a row he talked with the Jews about the Scriptures.

When I heard this, I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I’m God’s servant, just like you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to what Jesus taught. Worship God! The Spirit of prophecy tells the truth about Jesus.”

They did everything that had been written about Jesus. Then they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb.

Paul writes the same way in all his letters. He speaks about the same things I’ve just told you. His letters include some things that are hard to understand. People who are unstable and ignorant twist what he says, just as they twist the other Scriptures. But this will lead to their own destruction.

because he will become such a great man in Lord’s sight. He must never drink wine or other alcohol. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit before he is even born.

But since you don’t believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”

Paul then went to Derbe and to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived. His mother was Jewish and a believer, but his father was a Greek.

At this point Festus interrupted Paul’s speech. “You’re out of your mind, Paul!” he shouted. “Your great learning is making you crazy!”

Someone who isn’t circumcised physically, but who obeys the law, will show that you’re guilty if you break the law, even though you have it in writing and you are circumcised.

God wisely planned that the world wouldn’t be able to understand him through its own wisdom. Instead, God was happy to use the foolish things we preach to save those who believe.

Fathers, don’t frustrate your children to the point where they get angry. Instead, instruct them and teach them the ways of the Lord as you raise them.

Until I come, I want you to concentrate on reading Scripture publicly and on encouraging and teaching others.
