The Spirit clearly says that in later times some people will abandon the faith, follow deceptive spirits, and believe things that demons teach.

They may have escaped from the corruption of the world, and they may have come to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But if they get tangled up again in sin, and it becomes their master, then they’re worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and controlled by all kinds of wrong desires and pleasures. We were hostile and envious. Other people hated us, and we hated them.

Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, these teachers oppose the truth. Their minds are twisted, so what they say about the faith can’t be trusted.

Above all, you must understand that in the last days people will laugh at the truth and follow their own wrong desires.

The first beast had given the second beast the power to perform these signs, and by these signs, the second beast tricked those who live on the earth. The second beast ordered people to set up a statue to honor the first beast. The first beast was the one who’d been wounded by a sword but had survived.

The great dragon was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. That dragon is the old serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.

The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voices of brides and grooms will never be heard in you again. Your traders were among the world’s most powerful people, and by your magic spell, all the nations were led astray.

We serve God in times of glory and shame, whether the things people say about us are good or bad. We’re genuine, but people treat us as if we were fakes.
