You know that I’ve been treated badly and suffered greatly. You know what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—how badly I was treated there. But the Lord saved me from all my troubles.

When the Jews saw the crowds, they became very jealous. They began to argue with what Paul was saying and insult him.

Since all of this is true, then the Lord knows how to save godly people and keep them safe in times of testing. But he also knows how to keep ungodly people under guard until the day they will be judged and punished.

I’ve fought the good fight, I’ve finished the race, I’ve kept the faith.

But God has helped me right up until this very moment. So I’m standing here and speaking about him to everyone, whether they’re kings or just ordinary people. I’ve been saying nothing different from what the prophets and Moses said would happen.

I will save you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I’m sending you to them

The people arguing were getting so out of control that the commander began to worry that they would tear Paul to pieces. So he ordered some soldiers to take him away from them by force and bring him into the fort.

I served the Lord humbly. I wept and struggled when the Jews who opposed me set traps against me.

From Perga they went on to another city named Antioch, the one in the region of Pisidia. On the Sabbath day they entered the synagogue there and sat down.

I will show him how much he must suffer for me.”

In Lystra there was a man who’d never been able to walk from the day he was born.

Pray that I’ll be kept safe from those in Judea who do not believe. And pray that the offering I’m taking to Jerusalem will be well received by the Lord’s people there.

We share very much in the sufferings of Christ, but we also share very much in his comfort.

Even though you’re suffering just as we are, we’re confident that God will comfort you, just as he’s comforting us.

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, insults, hard times, attacks, and difficulties. For when I’m weak, that’s when I’m strong.
