Blessed is the person who keeps going when times are difficult. After they’ve made it through these times, they’ll receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to give to those who love him.
But as for you, stay in control of yourself no matter what happens. Don’t give up when things become difficult. Work to spread the good news. Fulfill all the responsibilities of your work.
So don’t be ashamed of the message about our Lord, and don’t be ashamed of me, his prisoner. Instead, join with me as I suffer for the good news. God’s power will help us do that.
So I put up with everything for the good of God’s chosen people, so that they also can be saved through Christ Jesus, with glory that will last forever.
Timothy, my son, I’m giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies that were once made about you. By remembering them, you’ll be able to fight the battle well
You know that I’ve been treated badly and suffered greatly. You know what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—how badly I was treated there. But the Lord saved me from all my troubles.
If we’re distressed, it’s so that you can be comforted and renewed. If we’re comforted, it’s so that you can be comforted. Then you’ll be able to endure the same suffering that we’ve gone through.
By faith Moses left Egypt. He knew this would make Pharaoh angry, but he wasn’t afraid. He didn’t let anything stop him, because he saw the God who can’t be seen.
Who serves as a soldier but has to pay his own expenses? Who plants a vineyard but doesn’t get to eat any of its grapes? Who takes care of a flock but doesn’t get to drink any of the milk from the sheep?
