Do your best to come to me quickly.

Do your best to get here before winter. Eubulus greets you, and so do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers and sisters.

Brothers and sisters, when for a short time we were separated from you (in person, though we were still with you in our thoughts), we felt like parents who had lost their children. We wanted to see you so much that we tried very hard to do so.

We’re writing this to make our joy complete.

He misses all of you, and he’s distressed because you heard he was sick.

I’m eager to see you so that I can give you some spiritual gift that will make you strong.

So be on your guard! Remember that for three years, I never stopped warning each of you as I wept over you night and day.

I served the Lord humbly. I wept and struggled when the Jews who opposed me set traps against me.

Up till now you haven’t asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be complete.

That’s the way it will be with you. Now is a time of sadness for you, but I will see you again. Then you’ll be full of joy, and no one will take your joy away.
