He has given us his very great and precious promises so that you can share in his nature. You have escaped from the corruption that’s in the world because of wrong desires.

None of our faces are covered with a veil. All of us can see and contemplate the Lord’s glory. So we’re being changed to become more and more glorious like him. All this comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

and started living a new life. Your life is being made new in knowledge in the Creator’s likeness.

Our parents disciplined us for a short time as they thought best. But God disciplines us for our good so that we can share in his holiness.

Dear friends, now we are children of God. We don’t know yet what we will be. But we know that when Christ appears, we’ll be like him, because we’ll see him as he really is.

Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Don’t touch anything that isn’t clean, and then I’ll receive you.”

Some people plant to please their wrong desires, and from those desires they’ll harvest death. Others plant to please the Spirit, and from the Spirit they’ll harvest eternal life.

And this is what God has promised us: eternal life.

That’s why Christ is the mediator of a new covenant. Now the people that God has called to himself can receive the eternal gift he promised. They can receive it because Christ has died to pay the price and set them free from the sins they committed under the first covenant.

because if you ask, “Did God keep his promises?” the answer in every case is, “Yes, through Jesus.” And so through him we say “Amen,” to the glory of God.

It’s the same with the promises that God made to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture doesn’t say, “and to your seeds.” That would mean many people. It says, “and to your seed.” That means one person—Christ.

They’ve been adopted as God’s children. God’s glory belongs to them, and so do the covenants. They received the law and they were taught to worship in the temple. They were given the promises,

until we are all united in our faith and our knowledge of God’s Son and we become grown up, mature, and completely filled with Christ.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is to take care of widows and orphans who are in trouble and not let the world contaminate you.

The Lord isn’t slow to keep his promise, not slow in the way some people understand it. Instead, he’s being patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed. He wants everyone to turn away from their sins.

But in keeping with God’s promise, we’re looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness lives.
