Don’t forget to do good and share with others, because God is pleased with offerings like those.

I know how much you want to do that. I’ve been bragging about you to the people in Macedonia. I’ve been telling them that you who live in Achaia have been ready to give since last year. Your eagerness has stirred up most of them to give as well.

In my opinion, she’s happier if she stays single. I say that as someone who has the Spirit of God too.

Now let me speak to those who are engaged. I don’t have a direct command from the Lord for you. But I’d like to give my opinion as someone who, by the Lord’s mercy, can be trusted.

It’s not that I want your gifts. I want greater and greater rewards to be stored up for you.

I’m not commanding you to do this. But I do want to challenge you to show how sincere your love is compared with the eagerness of others.

On the first day of every week, each of you should put some money aside. The amount should be in keeping with how much you’ve made. Save up the money so you won’t have to take an offering when I come.

But now I’m going to go back to bragging, even though there’s nothing to be gained by it. I’m going to talk about visions and revelations from the Lord.
