We must all stand before Christ to be judged, and then each of us will receive what we deserve for the things we did while we were in our bodies, whether they were good or bad.

The Son of Man is going to come with his angels in his Father’s glory, and he will deal with each person according to what they’ve done.

“See, I’m coming soon, and I’m bringing my rewards with me. I’ll reward each person for what they’ve done.

You know that the Lord will give each one a reward for whatever good they do, whether they’re a slave or a free person.

So don’t judge anything before the appointed time. Wait until the Lord returns, and he will bring what’s now hidden in the dark out into the light. He’ll show the real reasons why people do what they do. At that time God will give each person the praise they deserve.

But they’ll have to explain their actions to God, who’s ready to judge the living and the dead.

He has set a day when he will judge the entire world fairly, and he has appointed a man to be its judge. God has proved this to everyone by raising that man from the dead.”

He commanded us to preach to the people and tell them that he is the one God appointed to judge the living and the dead.

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I’m the one who searches hearts and minds and that I pay each person back for what they’ve done.

I’m using an example from everyday human life to help you understand. You used to offer yourselves as slaves to dirty habits, and you did more and more things that were wrong. Now offer yourselves as slaves to the right way of living. Then you will become holy.

I don’t say this to accuse you; I’ve told you before that you mean so much to us that we would live or die with you.

The good news says that this will happen on the day when God judges people’s secret thoughts through Jesus Christ.

People have to die once, and after that they face judgment.
