He has given us the power to serve under a new covenant. It’s not based on the written Law of Moses; it comes from the Holy Spirit. The written Law kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh isn’t worth anything. The words I’ve spoken to you are full of the Spirit and they give life.

But now we have died to what used to control us, and we have been set free from the law. We serve in the new way of the Holy Spirit, not in the old way of the written law.

The law of the Spirit who gives life through Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.

You’ve come to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks better things than the blood of Abel, which cried out from the ground for revenge.

Because of this oath, Jesus guarantees that we have a better covenant with God.

But they still don’t understand; to this day, the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. The veil has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.

It is written, “The first man Adam became a living person.” But the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

So no one can obey the law well enough to be considered right with God. Instead, the law makes us more aware of our sin.

Our Lord Jesus is the great Shepherd of the sheep. The God of peace brought him back from the dead through the blood of the eternal covenant. May that same God

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

In the same way, he took the cup after supper and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Every time you drink it, do this in memory of me.”

He said to them, “Every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings new treasures out of his storeroom along with the old ones.”

Christ also suffered once for sins. Someone who did right suffered for those who did wrong, in order to bring you to God. Jesus was put to death in the body, but he was made alive in the Spirit.

If you point out these things to the brothers and sisters, you will be serving Christ Jesus well. You’ll show that you’ve been strengthened by the truths of the faith and by the good teaching you’ve obeyed.

I became a servant of this good news through the gift of God’s grace. It came through his power, which was at work in me.

So is the law opposed to God’s promises? Certainly not! If a law had been given that could give life, then people could become right with God by obeying that law.

The Law was written in letters on stone. Though it was a way of serving God, it led to death. But that way of serving God was surrounded by glory when it was introduced. The glory lasted for only a short time, but even so, the people of Israel couldn’t look at Moses’ face for very long because of it.

God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, guiding, and speaking in different kinds of languages.

After all, what is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants who helped you to believe. The Lord has given each of us our own work to do.

because the law brings God’s anger. But where there is no law, the law can’t be broken.

The Father raises the dead and gives them life; in the same way, the Son gives life to anyone he wishes.

“This is my blood of the covenant,” he told them, “poured out for many.

This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out so that the sins of many people will be forgiven.

If the law that condemns people to death had glory, how much more glorious will the work of the Spirit be! It makes people right with God.

As it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations.” The God Abraham believed in considers him to be our father. This is the God who gives life to the dead and creates things that didn’t exist before.

Through him we received grace to become apostles to the Gentiles and through that grace to bring them to obedience to God by trusting in Jesus. We do this to bring glory to him.

The Word of life was here from the beginning. We’ve heard him, we’ve seen him with our eyes, we’ve looked at him, and our hands have touched him. So we want to tell you about him.

I was appointed to be a messenger, an apostle, and a teacher of the good news.

So he gave us new life because of what Christ has done, even when we were dead in our sins. God’s grace has saved you.

God has given me the grace to lay a foundation as a wise builder. Now someone else is building on it. But each one should build carefully.

When you were living in your sins and the wrong things you were doing, you were actually dead.

It’s clear that you’re a letter from Christ, the result of our work for God, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God. You’re a letter not written on tablets of stone but on human hearts.

Are they serving Christ? I’m serving him even more. (I’m out of my mind to talk like this!) I’ve worked much harder. I’ve been in prison more often. I’ve suffered terrible beatings. Again and again I’ve almost died.

By calling this covenant “new,” God made the first one outdated. And what is outdated and obsolete will soon disappear.
