I’ve spoken to you very honestly. I’m very proud of you. I’m truly encouraged; even with all of our troubles, I’m overflowing with joy.

I truly expect and hope that I won’t be ashamed in any way, but that I’ll be brave enough so that now as always, Christ will be honored in my body, whether I live or die.

The leaders knew that Peter and John were ordinary, untrained men, and so they were amazed by how boldly they spoke. They recognized that the two of them had been with Jesus.

Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you’re speaking plainly and not using images and stories.

If anyone serves well as a deacon, they will earn the full respect of others and strengthen their faith in Christ Jesus.

Earlier, in the city of Philippi, we suffered and the people treated us very badly, as you also know. But God still gave us the boldness to tell you his good news, even when people strongly opposed us.

Pray that I will preach it clearly, as I should.

I appeal to you by the humbleness and gentleness of Christ—I, Paul, the one you think is timid when I’m face to face with you, but bold when I’m away from you.

It is written, “I believed, and so I’ve spoken.” We have that same spirit of faith, and so we also believe and speak.

But in the church, I’d rather speak five words in a language people can understand, in order to teach them, than 10,000 words in an unfamiliar language.

Paul and Barnabas spent a lot of time there, speaking boldly for the Lord. He gave them the ability to do signs and wonders, and in this way, the Lord showed that they were telling the truth about his grace.

But when he talked and argued with the Greek Jews, they decided to kill him.

But Barnabas brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul had seen the Lord while on his journey and how the Lord had spoken to him. Barnabas also explained that in Damascus Saul had preached without fear in Jesus’ name.

“I’ve been telling you things using images and stories. But a time is coming when I won’t use examples; I’ll tell you plainly about my Father.

The Jewish leaders surrounded him and demanded, “How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you’re the Messiah, come right out and say so.”

The glory of the old covenant lasted for only a short time. How much greater is the glory of the new covenant that lasts forever!

Because I’m a prisoner, most of the brothers and sisters have become much bolder in the Lord, and they’re not afraid to preach the good news.

Because of the authority Christ has given me, I could be bold and order you to do what you should do.
