All you need to say is simply ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Anything more than that comes from the evil one.

Above all, my brothers and sisters, don’t swear any oaths, not by heaven or by the earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” If you do more than that, you’ll be found guilty.

You judge by human standards; I don’t judge anyone.

to reveal his Son in my life so I could preach about him to the Gentiles, I didn’t consult any human being.

He thought that Mary hadn’t been faithful to him. He wanted to follow the law of Moses and didn't want to put her to shame in public. So he planned to break up with her quietly.

But since many others are bragging the way the people of the world do, let me show you that I can brag like them too.
