The dragon stood on the seashore, and I saw a beast coming up out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, and there were ten crowns on its horns. On each head there was a name that was disrespectful and insulting to God.
Keep reminding God’s people about these things. Warn them in the presence of God not to argue about words. Those arguments don’t have any value. All they do is destroy everyone who listens to them.
That’s why I’m writing these things now, while I’m away. Then when I do come, I won’t have to use my authority and be hard on you. The Lord gave me that authority to build you up, not to tear you down.
If they still refuse to listen, then tell it to the community of believers. And if they refuse to listen even to the community, then treat them the way you would treat an unbeliever or a traitor.
Don’t forget this word of encouragement that speaks to you the way a father speaks to his children: “My son, don’t think the Lord’s discipline doesn’t matter, and don’t give up hope when he corrects you,
