If someone does something wrong to you or insults you, don’t do the same thing to them. Instead, respond with kind words. This is what God wants you to do so that you can receive a blessing.
Dear friend, don’t imitate those who are doing wrong, but those who are doing good. Anyone who does what’s good belongs to God. Anyone who does what’s wrong hasn’t really seen or known God.
Anyone who serves the Lord must not be difficult to get along with. Instead, they must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and not hold anything against anybody.
Just by getting into a lawsuit with another believer, you’ve already lost. Wouldn’t it be better to be treated wrongly instead? Wouldn’t it be better just to be cheated?
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then you will have a great reward. You will be children of the Most High God, who is kind to people who do wrong and are ungrateful.
But I tell you not to retaliate against someone who treats you poorly. Suppose someone slaps you on your right cheek. Then turn your other cheek to them as well.
When I heard this, I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I’m God’s servant, just like you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to what Jesus taught. Worship God! The Spirit of prophecy tells the truth about Jesus.”
