Jesus died for us so that we might live with him, whether we are still alive on this earth or whether we have already died.

Christ also suffered once for sins. Someone who did right suffered for those who did wrong, in order to bring you to God. Jesus was put to death in the body, but he was made alive in the Spirit.

and follow the path of love. That’s what Christ did. He loved us and gave himself up for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.

Then who can say we’re guilty? No one. Christ Jesus, who died for us—indeed, who was raised for us—is at the right hand of God praying for us.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to welcome the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

“He himself carried our sins” in his body on the cross. He did that so, free from sins, we would lead godly lives. “His wounds have healed you.”

He gave himself for us to set us free from all wrongdoing and purify us, so that we can be his very own people and be eager to do what is good.

who gave himself to pay for the sins of all people. We’ve been given this message at just the right time.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do because they don’t have any hope.

When I passed on to you what I received, I told you that the most important thing was that Christ died for our sins, just as Scripture said he would;

The greatest love that anyone can show is to give up their life for their friends.

The reason my Father loves me is that I give up my life. But I will get it back again.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives up his life for the sheep.

Be like the Son of Man, who didn’t come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life to set people free.”

They know me just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I give up my life for the sheep.

Following what the Lord himself has said, we tell you that at the Lord’s royal arrival, we who are still alive will not precede those who have died.

So let’s not be like the others, who are asleep. Instead, let’s be wide awake and sober.

Here’s a saying you can trust: If we died with him, we’ll also live with him.
