No, we speak as people God has approved and entrusted with the good news. We’re not trying to please people; we’re trying to please God, who tests our hearts.

Now do I sound like somebody who wants people to think well of me? Or do I sound like somebody who wants God to think well of me? If I were still trying to please people, I wouldn’t be serving Christ.

God, who looks into our hearts, knows the mind of the Spirit, and the Spirit prays for God’s people just as God wants him to pray.

It was just the opposite! They recognized that I had been trusted with the task of preaching the good news to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been trusted with preaching to the Jews.

Guard what you have been trusted with—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

And don’t obey them just to please them when they’re watching, but in order to do the will of God genuinely, as slaves of Christ.

At just the right time, he has revealed this hope through the preaching that he has trusted me to do. God our Savior has commanded all these things.

I’m less than the least of all the Lord’s people. But he gave me the grace to preach to the Gentiles about the unlimited riches that Christ gives.

Instead, we refuse to do secret and shameful things. We don’t trick anyone, and we don’t twist God’s word. We do just the opposite! We present the truth plainly so that everyone can judge us in their own conscience before God.

If I preach because I want to, I get a reward. If I preach because I have to, I’m only doing my duty.

If you aren’t trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with genuine riches?

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I’m the one who searches hearts and minds and that I pay each person back for what they’ve done.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. His eyes see everything, and he’ll hold us accountable for everything we do.

Timothy, guard what God has trusted you with. Stay away from godless chatter and from the opposing ideas that are falsely called knowledge.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything. Don’t do it just to please them when they’re watching you. Obey them genuinely, out of respect for the Lord.

Knowing we’re going to face judgment puts the fear of God in us, and we don’t pretend to anyone that we’re something we’re not. What we truly are is clear to God, and I hope that you’re clearly aware of it too.

You’ve heard me teach things in front of many witnesses. Pass them on to people you can trust, and then they’ll be able to teach others also.

So from now on we don’t look at anyone from the world’s point of view. Once we even looked at Christ that way, but we don’t anymore.

Now let me speak to those who are engaged. I don’t have a direct command from the Lord for you. But I’d like to give my opinion as someone who, by the Lord’s mercy, can be trusted.

Jesus said to him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” It made Peter sad that Jesus had asked him a third time, “Do you love me?” He answered, “Lord, you know all things. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

The Lord answered, “Suppose a master gives one of his servants the job of giving the other servants their food at the right time, as a faithful and wise manager.

Unlike many people, we aren’t selling God’s word to make money. It’s just the opposite! Because of Christ, we speak honestly before God, as people God has truly sent.

If anyone speaks, they should do it as someone who’s speaking God’s own words. If anyone serves, they should do it with the strength that God provides. That way God will be praised in all things through Jesus Christ. May he receive the glory and power for ever and ever. Amen.
