Instead, we refuse to do secret and shameful things. We don’t trick anyone, and we don’t twist God’s word. We do just the opposite! We present the truth plainly so that everyone can judge us in their own conscience before God.

Unlike many people, we aren’t selling God’s word to make money. It’s just the opposite! Because of Christ, we speak honestly before God, as people God has truly sent.

God didn’t call us to live impure lives, but holy ones.

Make room for us in your hearts. We haven’t cheated anyone, we haven’t corrupted anyone, and we haven’t taken advantage of anyone.

The message we preach isn’t about ourselves. It’s about Jesus Christ as Lord, and about ourselves as your servants for his sake.

When we told you about the time our Lord Jesus Christ came with power, we weren’t trying to fool you by making up stories. We saw him in all his majesty with our own eyes.

So God lets them be fooled completely, so that they’ll believe the false things they’ve been told.

You know that we treated each of you the way a father treats his own children.

People like that are false apostles and dishonest workers. They’re only pretending to be apostles of Christ.

One person who did this was Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus. The apostles called him Barnabas, which means Son of Encouragement.

After someone read aloud from the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to Paul and his group. They said, “Brothers, do you have any words of instruction for the people? If you do, please speak.”

We serve God in times of glory and shame, whether the things people say about us are good or bad. We’re genuine, but people treat us as if we were fakes.
