If someone does something wrong to you or insults you, don’t do the same thing to them. Instead, respond with kind words. This is what God wants you to do so that you can receive a blessing.

Don’t pay back evil with evil. Be careful to do what everyone considers right.

Bless those who keep hurting you. Bless them, don’t curse them.

Make sure that no one pays back one wrong act with another. Instead, always try to do what’s good for each other and for everyone else.

But I tell you, love your enemies, and pray for those who hurt you.

Instead, be kind and merciful to one another. Forgive one another, just as God has forgiven you in Christ.

But I tell you not to retaliate against someone who treats you poorly. Suppose someone slaps you on your right cheek. Then turn your other cheek to them as well.

After you’ve suffered for a little while, the God of all grace will restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. He has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ.

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

“Then the King will speak to those on his right and say, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, take what is yours. Receive the kingdom that has been prepared for you since the world was created.

He said, “I will certainly bless you and give you many children.”

A certain ruler asked Jesus, “Good teacher, what must I do to receive eternal life?”

One day an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to have eternal life?”

Everyone who has left houses or fields, brothers or sisters, father or mother, or husband or wife and children because of me will receive 100 times as much. They will also receive eternal life.

God made these plans for people to become like his Son, and he called those people to be saved. Then he made those people right with himself, and finally, he them gave his glory.

As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and got down on his knees in front of him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to receive eternal life?”

He set us free so that the blessing that was given to Abraham would come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus. That way by faith we would receive the promised Holy Spirit.

As you know, afterwards he wanted to receive his father’s blessing, but he was turned away. Even though he pleaded with tears, he still couldn’t change what he had done.
