We accept what humans say when they’re witnesses. But when God is a witness, what he says is much stronger evidence, because it’s God talking, and he’s talking about his own Son.
He has set a day when he will judge the entire world fairly, and he has appointed a man to be its judge. God has proved this to everyone by raising that man from the dead.”
While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, and I’m very pleased with him. Listen to him!”
Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts what God says about him. Whoever doesn’t believe what God says is calling him a liar by not believing what God has said about his Son.
and then God showed that their report was true by doing signs and wonders and various kinds of miracles and by giving out gifts from the Holy Spirit as he wished.
That’s why he swore an oath. Then there were two things that guaranteed God was telling the truth: his promise and his oath. He gave us those two things so that we’d be very encouraged as we run to take hold of the hope that has been set before us.
