When we pray to God, we can be confident of this: If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you can ask for anything you wish, and it will be done for you.
If you believe, you will receive what you ask for when you pray.”
When you do ask for something, you don’t receive it because you’re asking for the wrong reason. You just want to satisfy your desires.
We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.
Through him and through faith in him we can approach God freely and confidently.
Up till now you haven’t asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be complete.
And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears, we can be confident and not ashamed to meet him when he comes.
So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you will be healed. The prayer of a godly person is very powerful, and great things happen because of it.
So don’t throw away your confidence. It will be richly rewarded.
We have come to share in Christ, but we need to maintain right to the end the confidence we started with.
I know that you always hear me, but I’m saying this for the benefit of the people standing here, so they’ll believe that you’ve sent me.”
But Christ is faithful over God’s house as his Son. And we are his house, if we hold tightly to our courage and the hope we boast about.
