The one who obeys God’s commands lives in him, and he lives in them. Here’s how we know that God lives in us: We know it by the Holy Spirit he gave us.
Don’t you know that together you are a body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you? You have received the Spirit from God. You don’t belong to yourselves;
Father, I pray they will be one, just as you are in me and I am in you. I want them also to be in us so that the world will believe that you have sent me.
How can the temple of the true God get along with idols? We are the temple of the living God, as God has said, “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God and they will be my people.”
That helper is the Spirit of truth. The world can’t accept him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you know him because he lives with you and will be in you.
If anyone refuses to accept this teaching, they’re not rejecting a human being. They’re rejecting God, the very same God who gives you his Holy Spirit.
