I wish all of you were single like me. But each person has their own gift from God. One has the gift of being happily married, and another has the gift of being happily single.

Don’t we have the right to take a believing wife along with us when we travel? That’s what the other apostles do, and the Lord’s brothers and Peter do the same.

We all have different gifts, according to the grace God has given to each of us. If you have the gift of prophecy, then use it according to the faith you have.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.

I think it would be good if those of you who aren’t married or who are widowed could stay single like me.

All these gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.

“Whether it takes a short time or a long time,” Paul replied, “I pray to God that you and everyone listening to me today may become like me—except for these chains!”

But I haven’t used any of those rights. And I’m not writing this because I want you to do things like that for me. I’d rather die than let anyone take away the satisfaction I get from bragging about this.
