Because of what God has done, you belong to Christ Jesus. He has become God’s wisdom for us. He makes us right with God, he makes us holy, and he sets us free.

To the members of God’s church in Corinth. You have been made holy in Christ Jesus, and you’ve been called to be his holy people together with all those everywhere who pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, who is their Lord and ours.

So what are you waiting for? Get up and call on his name. Be baptized and have your sins washed away.’

God made these plans for people to become like his Son, and he called those people to be saved. Then he made those people right with himself, and finally, he them gave his glory.

God the Father knew you ahead of time, and he chose to make you pure and holy through the Spirit’s work. Then you would obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood to make you holy. May more and more grace and peace be given to you.

So let’s draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings. Our hearts have been sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

He did this to make her holy, washing her with water through the word.

You used to be darkness, but now you’re light in the Lord. Live as children of the light.

Who can bring any charge against God’s chosen ones? It’s God who makes us right with himself.

But we should always thank God for you, brothers and sisters, because the Lord loves you and chose you as the first to be saved. This has happened through the work of the Holy Spirit, which makes people holy, and through your belief in the truth.

Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin. Moses’ law cannot make you right in God’s eyes.

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first to rise from the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. Jesus loves us and has set us free from our sins by his blood.

We know that no one who relies on the law is made right with God, because “the one who is right with God will live by faith.”

I answered, “Sir, you know.” He said, “They’re the ones who’ve come out of the time of terrible suffering. They’ve washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

But even though we’re used to following the law, we still know that no one can be made right with God that way. Instead, a person needs to believe in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus to be made right with God. We’re not trying to do that by obeying the law, because no one can be made right with God by obeying the law.

You know that before you were believers, you were somehow drawn away to worship idols that couldn’t even speak.

Jesus, who makes people holy, belongs to the same family as the people he makes holy. That’s why he isn’t ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.

So the law was put in charge of us until Christ came. He came so that we could be shown to be in the right because of faith.

All the more so, having already been shown by his blood to be in the right, we will be saved from wrath through him.

but the free gift of God’s grace makes us right with him. Christ Jesus paid the price to set us free.

The water of the flood is a picture of the way that baptism now saves you too. It doesn’t save you by washing the dirt off your body. Instead, it’s your way of promising God that you’ll keep a clear conscience by the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

You’ve made yourselves pure by obeying the truth. Now, you have an honest and true love for each other. So love one another deeply from your hearts.

Scripture saw long ago that God would make the Gentiles right with himself by faith. It announced the good news ahead of time to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”

But if, rather than working, people trust in God who makes ungodly people right with himself, their faith makes them right with God.

“I tell you, the tax collector went home accepted by God, but the Pharisee didn’t. All those who lift themselves up will be humbled, but those who humble themselves will be lifted up.”

Jesus answered, “People who’ve had a bath only need to wash their feet. The rest of their body is clean. And you are clean—but not all of you are.”

“No,” said Peter, “I’ll never let you wash my feet.” Jesus responded, “Unless I wash them, you can’t be part of what I’m doing.”

But wouldn’t people deserve even more punishment if they’ve trampled the Son of God under their feet, treated the blood of the covenant as unholy, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Dear children, I’m writing to you because your sins have been forgiven in Jesus’ name.

He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I’ll pay you what’s fair.’
