John replied, “A person can receive only what is given to them from heaven.

Each of you has received a gift that you can use to serve others. You should use it as something that God has trusted you with. These gifts come in many forms.

Every good and perfect gift is from above. It comes down from the Father who created the heavenly lights. He doesn’t change like shadows that move.

We all have different gifts, according to the grace God has given to each of us. If you have the gift of prophecy, then use it according to the faith you have.

Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of the grace already given.

He sent for ten of his slaves and gave each of them about three months’ worth of wages. ‘Put this money to work until I come back,’ he said.

But by the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace wasn’t wasted on me. No, I worked harder than all the other apostles—though it wasn’t me doing the work. God’s grace was with me.

I wish all of you were single like me. But each person has their own gift from God. One has the gift of being happily married, and another has the gift of being happily single.

By the grace that has been given to me, I say to every one of you, don’t think of yourself more highly than you should. Have a reasonable view of yourself, based on the faith God has given to each of you.

Through him we received grace to become apostles to the Gentiles and through that grace to bring them to obedience to God by trusting in Jesus. We do this to bring glory to him.

Your bragging isn’t good. Don’t you know that just a little yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise?

After all, what is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants who helped you to believe. The Lord has given each of us our own work to do.
