That’s the reason why I’ve sent Timothy to you. He’s like a son to me, and I love him. He’s faithful in serving the Lord. He’ll remind you of the way I live as a servant of Christ Jesus. I myself follow what I teach everywhere in all the churches.

To Timothy, my true son in the faith. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

When Timothy comes, make sure he has nothing to worry about while he’s with you. He’s doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.

But each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them. Stay as you were when God chose you. That’s the rule I tell people to follow in all the churches.

To Timothy, my dear son. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

Now I want to deal with the offering of money for the Lord’s people. Do what I told the churches in Galatia to do.

God is not a God of disorder; he’s a God of peace, as in all the churches of the Lord’s people.

Don’t be afraid of what you’re going to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you’ll be mistreated for ten days. Be faithful, even if you have to die, and I’ll give you life as your victory crown.

I commend you for remembering what I taught you and for staying true to exactly what I passed on to you.

Now let me speak to those who are engaged. I don’t have a direct command from the Lord for you. But I’d like to give my opinion as someone who, by the Lord’s mercy, can be trusted.

‘I know that even though you live where Satan has his throne, you’re still faithful to me. You didn’t give up your faith even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city, where Satan lives.

But you know all about my teaching, my way of life, and my purpose, faith, love, and endurance.

You’ve heard me teach things in front of many witnesses. Pass them on to people you can trust, and then they’ll be able to teach others also.

He’s coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who’s from your community. They’ll tell you everything that’s happening here.

You heard the good news from Epaphras, our dear friend who faithfully serves Christ with us.

I hope to send Timothy to you soon, if the Lord Jesus allows it. That way I’ll be encouraged when I receive news about you.

Tychicus, our dear brother and the Lord’s faithful servant, will tell you all the news about me. Then you’ll know how I am and what I’m doing.

If anyone wants to argue about this, let me simply say that we don’t have any other practice, and none of God’s churches do either.

Other people might be your guardians in Christ, but even if there were 10,000 of them, you still wouldn’t have many fathers. I became your father in Christ Jesus by telling you the good news.

Those who’ve been trusted with something must show that they’re dependable.

Paul then went to Derbe and to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived. His mother was Jewish and a believer, but his father was a Greek.

I’m not writing this to make you ashamed, but to warn you as my dear children.

Anyone who’s hungry should eat something at home first. That way, when you meet together, you won’t be judged. When I come, I’ll give you more directions.

Along with Titus, we’re sending another brother. He’s someone all the churches respect for what he has done for the good news.

But you know that Timothy has proved himself. He has served with me like a son with his father in spreading the good news.

Timothy, my son, I’m giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies that were once made about you. By remembering them, you’ll be able to fight the battle well

I left you on the island of Crete because I wanted you to take care of some unfinished business. I wanted you to appoint elders in every town, and I told you how to do that.
