It’s true that Christ was nailed to the cross in weakness, but now he’s alive by God’s power. In the same way, we share his weakness, but by God’s power we’ll be alive with Christ as we deal with you.

I’m glad whenever I’m weak but you’re strong. I pray that you will be fully restored.

Some say, “In his letters, he sounds important and forceful, but in person he’s not very impressive, and he’s not a good speaker.”

I appeal to you by the humbleness and gentleness of Christ—I, Paul, the one you think is timid when I’m face to face with you, but bold when I’m away from you.

Instead, we try to show in every way that we’re genuine servants of God. We endure through troubles, hard times, and suffering.

That’s why we never give up. Though our bodies are becoming weaker and weaker, our spirits are being renewed day by day.

So, because we have this work to do through God’s mercy, we don’t give up.

But when Gallio became the governor of Achaia, the Jews of Corinth got together to oppose Paul. They brought him into court

But when they opposed Paul and treated him badly, he shook out his clothes in protest. He told them, “God’s judgment against you will be your own fault! Don’t blame me for it! From now on, I will go to the Gentiles.”

When we came to Macedonia, we weren’t able to rest. There was trouble all around. We had battles on the outside and fears on the inside.

Paul and those traveling with him passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia and stopped in Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.

After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.

His love for you is even greater when he remembers how you all obeyed. You received him with fear and trembling.

Slaves, obey your masters here on earth. Sincerely respect and honor them. Obey them as a way of obeying Christ.
