If I have the gift of prophecy and can understand all the secret things of God and know everything about him, and if I have enough faith to move mountains, but I don’t have love, I’m nothing at all.

Anyone who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, because God is love.

If I give everything I have to the poor, and I endure so much hardship that I can brag about it, but I don’t have love, that doesn’t do me any good at all.

He answered, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

If anyone does not love the Lord, let a curse be on that person! Come, Lord!

Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do what was done to the fig tree. You can even say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.

The mystery is that because of the good news, Gentiles can also receive what God promised to the Jews. Both groups can be part of the same body, and in Christ Jesus, both share in the promise. So by reading this, you’ll be able to recognize the insight I have into the mystery of Christ. It wasn’t made known to people of other times the way the Spirit has now revealed it to God’s holy apostles and prophets.

If I speak in the languages of human beings or even of angels, but I don’t have love, I’m only a loud gong or a noisy cymbal.

So I say, be guided by the Spirit, and you won’t do what your wrong desires want.

It contains the mystery that has been hidden for many ages but that has now been made known to the Lord’s people.

If anyone thinks they’re somebody when they aren’t really anybody, they’re only fooling themselves.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, guiding, and speaking in different kinds of languages.

Being circumcised means nothing and being uncircumcised means nothing. Doing what God commands is what matters.

Without question, true godliness comes from this great mystery: Jesus came as a human being, and he was declared right with God by the Holy Spirit. He was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory.

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, the right words will be given to me so I can explain the mystery of the good news boldly.

So here’s how you should think of us. We’re servants of Christ who’ve been trusted with the mysteries God has shown us.

God is able to strengthen you through the good news, which is the message I preach about Jesus Christ. There was a mystery that had been kept hidden for a very long time.

Brothers and sisters, here’s a mystery I want you to understand. It will keep you from being proud. Part of Israel has refused to obey God, and that will continue until the full number of Gentiles has entered God’s kingdom.

He saw a fig tree by the road and went up to it, but he didn’t find anything on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Right away the tree dried up.

He answered, “Because they aren’t being given the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven the way you are.

I’ve made a fool of myself, but you forced me to. You should have been the ones to praise me. I’m not the least bit inferior to the “super-apostles,” even though I’m nothing.

Brothers and sisters, you should be eager to prophesy, and you shouldn’t stop people from speaking in unknown languages.

So then, here’s what I say about eating food sacrificed to idols. We know that “an idol really is nothing at all in the world.” We know that “there is only one God.”

In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers. Among them were Barnabas, Simeon (also called Niger), Lucius from Cyrene, and Manaen, who’d been brought up with Herod, the ruler of Galilee. Saul was among them too.

My brothers and sisters, I’m sure that you are full of goodness, filled with knowledge, and able to teach one another.

Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head.

Love never fails. But prophecies will end; unknown languages will go silent; knowledge will disappear.

Those who speak in unknown languages build up only themselves. But the person who prophesies builds up the church.

Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should evaluate what they say.

Listen! I’m telling you a mystery. We’re not all going to die, but we will all be changed.
