My dear friends, stay far away from the worship of idols.

But others will be thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur: cowards, unbelievers, and murderers; those who are impure or commit sexual sins or practice witchcraft; those who worship idols; and all liars. The lake of fire is the second death.”

Dear children, keep yourselves away from idols.

Dear friends, in this world you’re outsiders who are living away from their land. So don’t give in to your wrong desires, which fight against your soul.

Outside the city are those who are impure, those who practice witchcraft, those who commit sexual sins and murder, those who worship idols, and everyone who loves and does what is false.

Dear friends, since we have these promises from God, let’s purify ourselves from everything that could make our bodies and spirits impure. Let’s be completely holy, to honor God.

Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Don’t touch anything that isn’t clean, and then I’ll receive you.”

Everyone who lives on the earth will worship the beast if their name hasn’t been written in the book of life that belongs to the Lamb, who was willing to be a sacrifice from the time the world began.

‘But I hold you responsible for a few things. Some of you are following the teaching of Balaam, who showed Balak how to lead the people of Israel into sin. They ate food offered to idols and they committed sexual sins.

So don’t worship idols, as some of them did. It is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink. Then they got up to dance wildly in front of their god.”

Why? Because I don’t love you? No! God knows that I do!

My dear friends, don’t try to get even with other people. Leave it up to God to punish them. After all, it’s written that the Lord says, “I’m the one who punishes people who do wrong, and I will pay them back.”

My brothers and sisters, stand firm in the Lord in this way. I love you and miss you, dear friends. You’re my joy and my crown.

So I’ll be very happy to spend everything I have for you. I will even spend myself. If I love you more, will you love me less?

From Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother. To Philemon, our dear friend who works together with us;

All this time, have you been thinking that I’ve been speaking up for myself? No, I’ve been speaking with God as my witness, as a believer in Christ. Dear friends, everything I do is to help you become stronger.

Instead, we should write to them and tell them that they must not eat food that has been offered to statues of gods. They must not be sexually immoral, they must not eat meat that still has blood in it, and they must not drink blood.

So let me clarify in this letter what I meant: You should stay away from anyone who claims to be a believer but who commits sexual sins, or is greedy, or worships idols, or tells lies about others, or gets drunk, or cheats. Don’t even eat with people like that.

I know I’m talking to reasonable people; judge for yourselves what I say.

Do I mean that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?

Even though we’re talking like this, we’re sure of better things in your case, dear friends—things that go with being saved.
