then that person is proud and doesn’t understand anything. They like to argue more than they should, and they’ll always be fighting about what words mean. This results in jealousy, fighting, harmful talk, and bad suspicions.
You’re still following your own wrong desires. If you’re jealous and you’re arguing, aren’t those desires in charge? Aren’t you acting like ordinary human beings?
I’m afraid that when I come I won’t find you as I want you to be, and you won’t find me as you want me to be. I’m afraid that there will be arguing, jealousy, fits of anger, selfish ambition, insults, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.
I ask all of you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree with one another and not argue. Look and think about things in the same way.
Here’s what I mean. One of you says, “I follow Paul.” Another says, “I follow Apollos.” Another says, “I follow Peter.” And still another says, “I follow Christ.”
But stay away from foolish disagreements, long ancestry lists, arguments, and fights about what the law teaches. None of those things do any good or help anybody.
