Thy former loving-kindnesses, O Lord, where be they now? Those which in truth and faithfulness to David sworn hast thou?
Once by my holiness I sware, to David I'll not lie;
Unto mine enemies he shall mischief and ill repay: O for thy truth's sake cut them off, and sweep them clean away.
(Their soul's redemption precious is, and it can never be,)
For why? he seeth that wise men die, and brutish fools also Do perish; and their wealth, when dead, to others they let go.
