Because thy mercy toward me in greatness doth excel; And thou deliver'd hast my soul out from the lowest hell.

Wilt thou not, who from death me sav'd, my feet from falls keep free, To walk before God in the light of those that living be?

For my distressed soul from death deliver'd was by thee: Thou didst my mourning eyes from tears, my feet from falling, free.

For great to heav'n thy mercy is, thy truth is to the sky.

O Lord, my soul thou hast brought up, and rescu'd from the grave; That I to pit should not go down, alive thou didst me save.

Because my soul in grave to dwell shall not be left by thee; Nor wilt thou give thine Holy One corruption to see.

Thou hast me laid in lowest pit, in deeps and darksome caves.

For above heav'n thy mercy's great, thy truth doth reach the sky.

O ye that are his holy ones, sing praise unto the Lord; And give unto him thanks, when ye his holiness record.
