His testimony and his law in Isr'el he did place, And charg'd our fathers it to show to their succeeding race;

To Joseph this a testimony he made, when Egypt land He travell'd through, where speech I heard I did not understand.

The doctrine of his holy word to Jacob he doth show; His statutes and his judgments he gives Israel to know.

God's law is perfect, and converts the soul in sin that lies: God's testimony is most sure, and makes the simple wise.

As for thy testimonies all, of old this have I try'd, That thou hast surely founded them for ever to abide.
