Sham'd and sore vex'd be all my foes, Sham'd and back turned suddenly.
Shew me a sign for good, that they which do me hate may see, And be asham'd; because thou, Lord, didst help and comfort me.
As with a garment I will clothe with shame his en'mies all: But yet the crown that he doth wear upon him flourish shall.
The wicked shall it see, and fret, his teeth gnash, melt away: What wicked men do most desire shall utterly decay.
How in a moment suddenly to ruin brought are they! With fearful terrors utterly they are consum'd away.
My tongue thy justice shall proclaim, continuing all day long; For they confounded are, and sham'd, that seek to do me wrong.
Confound, consume them, that unto my soul are enemies: Cloth'd be they with reproach and shame that do my hurt devise.
Sham'd and confounded be they all that at my hurt are glad; Let those against me that do boast with shame and scorn be clad.
Let none that wait on thee be put to shame at all; But those that without cause transgress, let shame upon them fall.
Rise in thy wrath, Lord, raise thyself, for my foes raging be; And, to the judgment which thou hast commanded, wake for me.
O God, destroy them; let them be by their own counsel quell'd: Them for their many sins cast out, for they 'gainst thee rebell'd.
Then shall he speak to them in wrath, in rage he vex them shall.
'Gainst those that were at peace with him he hath put forth his hand: The covenant that he had made, by breaking he profan'd.
