For thou art not a God that doth in wickedness delight; Neither shall evil dwell with thee,
men's sons. The just he proves: But his soul hates the wicked man, and him that vi'lence loves.
Surely the just shall praise thy name; th' upright dwell in thy sight.
Because I silence kept, while thou these things hast wrought; That I was altogether like thyself, hath been thy thought; Yet I will thee reprove, and set before thine eyes, In order ranked, thy misdeeds and thine iniquities.
To shew that upright is the Lord: he is a rock to me; And he from all unrighteousness is altogether free.
Who of deceit a worker is in my house shall not dwell; And in my presence shall he not remain that lies doth tell.
Shall of iniquity the throne have fellowship with thee, Which mischief, cunningly contriv'd, doth by a law decree?
That I thy power may behold, and brightness of thy face, As I have seen thee heretofore within thy holy place.
Why, Lord, dost thou cast off my soul, and hid'st thy face from me?
